ReadWith (“the app”, “we”) is a reading app for language learners, operated by Tendency Tech. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. You can read the public-domain library without an account; an account is only needed to upload your own books.
What we collect
Account details (only if you sign up): your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as a salted one-way hash (PBKDF2) — never in plain text.
Your uploads: books you upload are stored privately and are visible only to your own account. We do not share them with other users.
Your saved words & progress: words you add to your vocabulary list (生词本) and your place in a book, so the app can pick up where you left off.
Sentences you tap: when you tap a sentence for a Chinese explanation or audio narration, that sentence (and its surrounding paragraph, for context) is sent to our servers and to AI language and text-to-speech providers to generate the result.
What we do NOT do
We do not sell your data.
We do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
We do not require an account to read the library.
How AI features work
Explanations and narration are produced by AI language and text-to-speech models running on our servers and trusted third-party AI providers. The text you tap is processed to deliver these features and is not used to build a profile of you.
Storage & security
Your data is stored on our servers. All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted over HTTPS.
Your choices & rights
Use the app anonymously — reading requires no account.
Delete your account and all your uploaded files at any time, right in the app: tap the account button at the top of the bookshelf → Delete account. You can also email us to request deletion.
Children
ReadWith is intended for language learners of a range of ages. If you are below the age of digital consent in your country, please use the app together with a parent or guardian.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above will change accordingly.
